Jesus T Time!

Last week I wrote about how Jesus needs a graphic designer, because there is some sad stuff out there. This week, I found something that is better, perhaps it even redeems last week?  I mean Jesus is all about redemption, right?

Jesus King of Cards And the detail shot:Jesus King of Cards Detail

Really what I want to express to you, dear reader, is that unlike last week’s submission, I could perhaps allow being caught dead with someone who is wearing this t.

Thank YOU C28 for giving those Christian kids something decent to wear.

Here is a t I like from Fatlace for the 2008 s/s collection. I really like the ‘illest’ t, i think it is pretty sweet. There is something so delightful about a popular slang word in that pristine script font.

Taking a stand!

So this morning I answered the phone, like I do, when it rings, and the woman on the other end began her description of what she wanted on her shirt a little something like this: “I want flames…”

Well, you can fill in the rest. I will point out that in my list of things that people should not wear, ‘flames’ is towards the top.

To combat this wretched request I am going to use this post to actually put something of worth up in the midst of the banality of this blog.

I present PulpHope.

This guy used to write DC comics, in particular Batman, and you all know how I love Batman. WELL, he designed some lovely threads for DNKY Jeans.

Headline, how I Love Thee

If there is one thing that I love about my job, it is the chance I have to work with fonts.

I am currently obsessed with the font Headline. Here’s a sample:

Headline Sample

It makes me think of an old-timey newspaper. Which makes me think of His Girl Friday, which is a film I love. But I digress.

Headline was created by the people at HPLHS

You can get it FOR FREE here.

Lastly, in the grand tradition of this blog, here is a t-shirt which uses this font:

Thank YOU busted tees for using this awesome font

Witty t-shirt sayings?

In my day-to-day work life I am bombarded with t-shirt blah. We are always looking for fun things to inspire us for designs. At work today I was shown a list of “witty t-shirt sayings.”  One of the top un-sponsored links when the previous words in quotations were searched was a ranked list of top witty t-shirt sayings.

Here were some of them, just for a quick run-down:

- Silence is golden but duct-tape is sliver.

- I am not a complete idiot, some parts are missing

- Your proctologist called, they found your head.

- My dashboard hula girl can beat up your dangling Jesus

-Free Vick!

This, dear readers are examples of the mediocrity in t-shirts these days. There are thousands, THOUSANDS more out there, which should be avoided, much like the ones above. If you don’t take my advice for it, here are some reasons:

-Duct-tape- Wal-mart sells it.

-Idiot- it sounds like a line that a writer for 2 1/2 Men/Grounded for Life/Everybody Loves Raymond/some other God-awful sitcom would come up with

-Proctologist- Okay, I kind of like this one, but only because it has the word ‘proctologist’ in it

-Dashboard- What? WHAT? Seriously? Plus ‘Dangling Jesus’ kind of sounds like a euphemism for penis

-Vick- I cannot believe that this ranked in the top 20 because this joke is old news, and I don’t know why anyone would want to wear a t-shirt supporting an animal abuser anyway.

Here’s the rest of the list for your reading pleasure.

Just because i feel like it, another bad saying on a shirt-

world wid weed

WW2 t-shirt

The t-shirt came out of a military tradition, bet you didn’t know that one! They became especially wide-spread during WW2 when they were issued to America’s doughboys.

If there is one shirt that is prevalent throughout all college experiences, it is this one:

College T

Which is and was only cool when this guy was wearing it:

and not when you wear it. Period.

Happy EASTER!!

I have a workmate, who is a lovely woman. And when she graduates from college, she would like to take her graphic design degree and her missionary work degree and create graphic design for non-for-profit Christian groups. Thank goodness, because the Man who used to get the best of the best from the art world now gets this:

Staples for Jesus
